Carlos Sainz maximizes his chances but finishes without points in Singapore

Sunday, 11 October 2026:

- Race: P14, 61 laps

  • Carlos Sainz crossed the finish line of the Singapore GP in fourteenth place, although there was a moment early into the race when he fought for points.
  • The Williams race driver was off to a blistering start, passing three cars to climb up to tenth. This recovery was especially important given how difficult overtaking is at this track.
  • His options vanished in the first laps after an issue in the battery of his power unit. The loss of power that followed cost him several positions and, together with a limited pace, made it impossible for him to remain in the fight for the Top 10.

QUOTES:

“Tough race and disappointed we couldn’t hold on to the points. I had a very strong start off the line jumping several cars and making it to P10, but after experiencing issues with the battery in the first few laps we lost two positions quickly and then we just didn’t had the pace overall. I feel like I’ve had a strong triple header and got the most out of the car since the new package came in Baku, but we knew it was going to be difficult to get into the points regularly. We’ll reset these days and come back recharged for the next triple header”.
