- Race: DNF, 70 laps
- Carlos Sainz was on his way to finishing at least ninth in the Monaco GP when he took two blows from rival cars after a last-minute standing start following a red flag.
- The Williams race driver started from twelfth, but moved up to eleventh with the issues that Max Verstappen had and then to tenth when Lando Norris retired.
- Carlos was cooperative with his teammate Alex Albon to create the track space necessary to perform their pit stops without falling out of the points.
- Charles Leclerc’s accident allowed the Spanish race driver to move up to ninth, but two blows from Nico Hülkenberg and Franco Colapinto in the middle sector after the red flag ended his chances.
QUOTES:
“We had managed the race well and I had very good pace in general until the red flag and restart. It’s difficult to digest getting hit in that corner on a restart to be honest, but there is nothing I could do unfortunately. It’s frustrating to end the weekend like that and to throw away points, especially after the team have worked so hard to develop the car and move us forward into point scoring positions more consistently. Yeah, it’s frustrating, but we’ll try to look at the positives and go again in Barcelona".
