Friday, 26 June 2026:
- Free Practice 1: did not take part
- Free Practice 2: P18, 1:09.131, 30 laps
- Challenging Friday for Carlos Sainz at the Red Bull Ring, where he saw the Williams FW48 struggle with this weekend’s heat and the high speed corners of this circuit, which require downforce and penalize weight.
- The Spanish race driver did not take part in the first practice session. He lent his car to team’s test driver Luke Browning.
- In the second sesIon, Carlos put 23 laps on the Medium tyre and 7 on the Soft despite some small technical issues which forced him to adjust his run plan. His goal from now on is finding the way to improve for Saturday.
QUOTES:
“It was a very difficult Friday here in Austria. Obviously missing FP1 is never ideal but Luke did a good job for us. After jumping in for FP2, we had some issues with the car that impacted our run plan but we did manage to get some laps in. Unfortunately, we are very far off and we need to unlock performance overnight if we want a shot at Q2. It’s looking to be a difficult weekend for us with the heat and the high speed nature of the track, but I’ll do my best to extract whatever is available".
