- Race: P9, 55 laps

• Carlos Sainz scored the first points of the season in the Chinese GP, where he fought back from the seventeenth spot on the starting grid to the ninth place at the chequered flag despite the weaknesses of his car.
• The Williams race driver did a great start and seized some retirements to move up to tenth in the first lap, and from there a completely different race unfolded for him.
• He pitted just before a Safety Car and found himself in fourteenth place afterwards, but thanks to a great tyre management he was able to move up to ninth in the end.

We know we’re not in a position to score points on pure pace at this point in the season, but we got everything else right today and that's what made the difference.
