Carlos Sainz, twelfth in the Barcelona-Catalunya GP

Sunday, 14 June 2026:
- Race. P12, 64 laps

  • Carlos Sainz finished twelfth in a Barcelona-Catalunya GP where he made the most of his Williams FW48.
  • From sixteenth on the grid, the Williams driver put together a solid start on the Soft tyre and moved up four places in the first meters of the race to climb up to twelfth.
  • In a tough race marked by high temperatures and high tyre degradation, the Spanish race driver followed a three-stop strategy (Soft, Hard, Hard, Medium), but his car didn’t have a good race pace and he finished outside the points.

QUOTES:
“Overall, a frustrating weekend for the team. I had a very good start, strong tyre management and did everything I could with our race pace today. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to fight for points although I feel like we maximised everything the car had to give".

“Ultimately, we need to understand why this track exposes us so much and solve those core characteristics so we’re better prepared for other tracks like it".

“A huge thank you to the Spanish fans here. The support this weekend was something special, and I can't wait to race again in Spain, in Madrid, later on in the season".
