Carlos Sainz, pushed away from the points in the Bahrain GP by an impact from a rival

Sunday, 4 October 2026:

- Race: P17, 55 laps

  • The Bahrain GP was tough with Carlos Sainz, who finished the race in seventeenth place despite the fact that he had climbed up to the points at one stage.
  • Carlos took the right decision to start the race on Intermediate tyres, which allowed him to move from thirteenth on the starting grid all the way to sixth, with a big margin over the following cars.
  • A crash by Valtteri Bottas led to a Safety-Car, which brought the group together. This, combined with a slow pit-stop, meant Carlos was down to seventh.
  • At the restart, Audi’s Gabriel Bortoleto crashed into Carlos’ Williams. He then fell to the bottom of the standings, away from the points.

QUOTES:

“We did everything right at the start of the race and managed to climb all the way to P6. Unfortunately, after getting hit at the first restart I dropped quickly down the order and it was very tough for us to recover. We knew we would struggle with pace today and scoring points was always going to be difficult, but we need to look into the execution and make sure we have a better weekend next week in Singapore. We’ll try to bounce back and keep pushing”.
