Saturday, 29 June 2024
- Sprint: P5, 23 laps
- Qualifying: P4, 1:04.851, 18 laps

  • Carlos Sainz will start from the second row of the grid in the Austrian GP, after placing his Ferrari SF-24 in P4 just between both Mercedes cars in the Qualifying session.
  • The Ferrari race driver was among the very few to use a single set of new Soft tyres in Q1 (1:05.263), whereas most of the grid completed up to three outings to set their laptimes.
  • In Q2, the Spanish driver found three tenths and set a 1:05.016 that put him in second place. He was already three tenths faster than yesterdayโ€™s Sprint Qualifying.
  • In Q3, Carlos broke the 1:05 barrier for the first time this weekend with a 1:04.851 that put him fourth on the Starting Grid for the Grand Prix.
  • In the Sprint, which took place this morning before Qualifying, Carlos passed Mercedesโ€™ George Russell and run up to fourth, although in the end he finished in his starting position, fifth.

QUOTES:
โ€œIt was a more positive day than yesterday: we have gained more speed and made some changes that have definitely helped us overall. We are still struggling in fast corners but we are working very hard with the team to understand how to address it. We are where I imagined we could be, but I feel that we are improving and we were very close to P3. The goal for tomorrow is clearly the podium: we know it will be difficult, but we will give it our all, as we always doโ€.
