Carlos Sainz starts the Italian GP on a positive note on Friday
Friday, 30 August 2024 - Free Practice 1: P4, 1:22.126, 24 laps - Free Practice 2: P3, 1:20.841, 27 laps
Carlos Sainz covered 51 trouble-free laps in Friday practice at the Italian GP as he tried out the three different Pirelli tyres available for the weekend.
One of the key points of the day was adjusting the set-up of the car to the last changes done to the asphalt and the kerbs of Monza, which have affected the balance and the tyre degradation.
The Spanish Ferrari race driver was today among the fastest on track, just 103 thousandths of a second away from the fastest time in Free Practice 2. Sustaining this speed throughout Qualifying is the goal for tomorrow.
QUOTES: "It was a very busy and interesting Friday. The Monza track has changed quite a lot, with very different kerbs and a new tarmac. For this reason the challenges and limitations are quite different from previous years and we had to adapt to a new scenario in terms of car setup and understanding tire degradation. There is quite a lot of work to do tonight in order to improve for tomorrow but overall it was a positive start to the weekend".
COMING UP: Saturday, 31 August 2024 - Free Practice 3: 12:30 local time (12:30 CEST) - Qualifying: 16:00 local time (16:00 CEST)
