Carlos Sainz looks to take a step forward on Saturday at the Belgian GP

Friday, 17 July 2026:
- Free Practice 1: P20, 1:50.862, 25 laps
- Free Practice 2: P16, 1:48.256, 19 laps
- Carlos Sainz was not fully satisfied after the first day of practice at Spa-Francorchamps, in which he used just the Medium and the Soft tyre compounds.
- The Williams race driver overcame a small issue in the first session, in which he was able to put up to 20 laps on the Medium yellow tyre.
- The Spanish driver improved the balance of his FW48 for the second session, although he sees that a step forward is required in order to be competitive on Saturday.
QUOTES:
“It was a scrappy day today. There was an issue on my car in FP1, so the session wasn’t representative as we couldn’t do the setup work we wanted. In FP2, we made some good progress and got the car to a better window although I picked up some damage somewhere and it wasn’t a clean session either. This evening we’ll look into everything to find solutions, improve our balance and hopefully we will be in better shape tomorrow”.
