Carlos Sainz does his homework ahead of the Azerbaijan GP

Azerbaijan GP, Baku City Circuit (6,003 meters, 20 corners, in the calendar since 2016)

  • Carlos Sainz heads this weekend to the Azerbaijan GP, the first race in the calendar after the European leg.
  • The best result to date in Baku of the Williams race driver is a fifth place in the race of 2023.
  • The Spanish race driver has made the most of the past two weeks to analyze together with his team the tyre temperature issuses that hindered his performance in the Qualifying of the Italian GP, in an effort to solve them and be more competitive.
  • The street circuit of Baku poses a unique challenge due to the narrowness of the streets of the second sector and the massive high speeds of the rest of the track, including the main stright, which in reality has multiple flat-out corners.

QUOTES:
“Heading into Baku, it’s one of those circuits that is very unpredictable, with the race always being one of opportunities. On my side, we’ve been working hard to better understand how the tyres perform in different conditions in our car, so it will be interesting to see what improvements can be made to our Qualifying consistency. We know we have the pace, so let’s try to make the most out of it!".
