- Free Practice 1: P4, 1:22.535, 30 laps
- Sprint Qualifying: P4, 1:21.281, 19 laps
- Carlos Sainz will start the last Sprint of the season from the second row of the grid, where up to eight points, very important for the Constructors’ Championship, will be at stake.
- The changes that Carlos and his team have done on the SF-24 after a single practice session have improved the car, although a last-minute change during the Sprint Qualifying would have reduced the understeering that the Spaniard experienced during the SQ3, which prevented him from improving further.
- Tomorrow’s Sprint is a new opportunity to improve the car for Sunday, when the majority of the points will be awarded.
QUOTES:
“A rather unusual qualifying session. In terms of balance, we worked in the right direction and the car improved from free practice. However in SQ3 I had quite a lot of understeer which obviously didn't help to put together a better lap. Anyway, starting on second row can still allow us to bring home a good result and, hopefully, to try and attack one of the McLarens ahead, score points and collect data which will help us preparing for Sunday".
