- Free Practice 1: P7, 1:11.100, 30 laps
- Sprint Qualifying: P5, 1:09.257, 15 laps
- Carlos Sainz handled the changing conditions of the Interlagos circuit, with a windier and colder track in the Sprint Qualifying compared to the morning’s practice, and qualified in fifth place for the starting grid of tomorrow’s Sprint.
- The Ferrari race driver made it through SQ1 without any issues (1:10.503) and clinched a great lap at the beginning of SQ2 that enabled him to move on with a single timed lap (1:09.500), hence saving tyres for Saturday.
- In SQ3, the Spaniard found three tenths of a second and put together a 1:09.257 lap that will allow him to start tomorrow from the third row of the grid.
QUOTES:
“Today it was really challenging, especially with the track conditions. During the Sprint Qualifying, the track was windy and much colder which didn’t help us at all. In Q2, I managed to do a very good first lap on the Medium tyre and didn’t need to push a second time, so we saved a bit that tyre for the Sprint race tomorrow. The final run with the Soft was good, but we still need to find more grip if we want to Qualify further ahead".
