Carlos Sainz scores a point in a challenging Sprint at the Sao Paulo GP

Saturday, 4 November 2023
-    Sprint Shootout: P9, 1:11.126, 13 laps
-    Sprint: P8, 24 laps

  • Carlos Sainz scored a Championship point by finishing eighth at the Sprint race in Brazil, the sixth and final Sprint of the 2023 Formula 1 season.
  • Ninth in the Starting Grid, the Ferrari race driver passed Daniel Ricciardo with a good start and moved up to eighth, where he resisted until the chequered flag.
  • The rhythm of the Spaniard was compromised by the need to manage the temperature of his power-unit, which led to him lift-and-coasting at the end of every straight.
  • Just like the other drivers, Carlos also had to be clinical in his driving to ensure that the Soft tyre lasted the 24 laps of the Sprint.

QUOTES:
“Today we suffered more than expected in the Sprint race. Our main limitation came from having to manage the engine temperatures and then the tyres. This implied a lot of lift and coast from very early on in the race, which obviously affected our overall performance. However, I'm confident that tomorrow it will be better and that we’ll be able to push the car and the tyres more to recover some positions".

COMING UP:

-    Race: 14:00 local time (18:00 CET)
