Carlos Sainz finishes in a valuable sixth place in the Las Vegas GP

Saturday, 18 November 2023
-    Race: P6, 50 laps

  • Carlos Sainz recovered to sixth place in an intense Las Vegas GP that included two Safety-Car periods.
  • Twelfth on the Starting Grid due to a 10-place penalty, he was involved in the Turn 1 multiple crash but seized the opportunity to do his first pit-stop.
  • On Hard tyres, the Spaniard showcased a great race pace and climbed up to fourth by the time everyone had completed their first tyre change.
  • Halfway into the race, he was running sixth when the Safety-Car came out for a second time. Carlos pitted for another set of Hard tyres and joined the track eleventh, recovering again to sixth by the chequered flag.

“Good weekend for the team even though it was a tough race for me. We struggled with engine temperatures racing in the middle of the pack and it was difficult to make positions quickly.”

“However we nailed the strategy switching to a two-stop and the second part of the race was better, making up a few places to finish P6. Damage limitation after the penalty and very important points for the Constructors Championship.”

“I can't wait to race in Abu Dhabi next week. The fight for second is still on and we'll do everything we can to take it!”
