- Race: P4, 53 laps
- Carlos sealed a great comeback in Monza in front of the Tifosi: from eighteenth on the grid to fourth at the chequered flag.
- The start and the first stint were key on his recovery, as he did multiple overtakings that enabled him to climb to fourth place in just 13 laps.
- The Ferrari driver started on the Medium tyre, which enabled him to attack on the second part of the race on the Soft compound.
- He cut George Russell’s advantage in half and he would have fought for the last spot of the podium hadn’t it been for a Safety-Car that stayed out until the end of the race.
QUOTES:
“Good race! I felt comfortable since the beginning, overtaking cars nearly every lap and climbing to P4 very early on".
"After pitting for the Soft tyre I was closing the gap to Russel quickly and I would have had a chance to battle with him for P3 at the end. Even when the Safety Car came out, I would have had a great opportunity at the restart with my new set of Softs, but unfortunately the race finished as it did and neither scenario happened".
"I’m happy with the performance and the comeback, but looking at our pace I wanted to be on the podium in front of all the Tifosi. Thanks to everyone for such a great support today. We will continue to push until the end of the year!".
