Saturday, 30 November 2024:
- Sprint: P4, 19 laps
- Qualifying: P7, 1:21.041, 26 laps
- Carlos Sainz heads into the Qatar GP willing to use his solid race pace to recover ground from the seventh spot of the starting grid, and hence score important points for the Constructors’ Championship.
- The Ferrari race driver has reasons to believe that he can be more competitive tomorrow: the SF-24 is faster in longer runs and it behaves better when equipped with the Medium and Hard compounds, which will be the main options going into Sunday.
- The Spaniard made it through Q1 (1:21.447) and Q2 (1.21:199) without any issues, although it was already apparent that there was a difference in performance compared to the quicker cars when fighting with the Soft tyre. Carlos’ fastest lap came in Q3 (1.21:041).
QUOTES:
“Today has proven again that this track is complicated for us. Milliseconds have separated us from a better result and a slipstream on the last run could have helped, but overall it is what it is. However, I think our race pace is stronger and, even though overtaking here is far from easy, I’m confident we can fight for some solid points tomorrow! The weekend is not over, we need to stay fully focused during the race and be prepared to grab any opportunity".
