- Free Practice 3: P6, 1:28.689, 21 laps
- Qualifying: P1, 1:40.984, 26 laps
- Carlos made history this Saturday in Silverstone as he set his maiden pole position as a Formula 1 driver. He is the second Spanish driver in history to do so.The entire
- Qualifying session was compromised by the rain, which appeared a few minutes before the start of Q1.
- Carlos followed the same strategy throughout the session, leaving early the pits on Intermediate tyres and then staying always out on track to capitalize the progress of the track.
- He made it safely through Q1 (1:40.190) and Q2 (1:40.983), and then finished the job in Q3 clinching pole position on his very last attempt (1:40.983).
- And so Carlos achieved his maiden pole position in the very same circuit where nine years ago he drove a Formula 1 car for the very first time.
QUOTES:
"I’m extremely happy today! Securing my first pole at Silverstone in the wet is something special that I will never forget. The whole qualifyng was very tricky, and every lap was a new adventure because of the conditions of the track. Finding grip and traction was a huge challenge and every lap you had to adapt. In the very last attempt I went for it and managed to put a good lap together that gave us pole".
"The confidence for tomorrow is high and hopefully we can bring our good pace of Friday on to the race. It will be a very tight battle with our competitors, but I’m ready for it and I’m sure we can put together a strong race and fight for the win. Let’s race".
