Carlos Sainz, fifteenth in Qualifying for the Sao Paulo GP after struggling with the set-up

  • Carlos Sainz sets his mind on a comeback drive in the Sao Paulo GP after a Qualifying session in which he finished in fifteenth place.
  • The Spanish race driver is unhappy with the set-up of his Williams FW47, even though he has tried different alternatives throughout the day. In fact, he has even preferred to sacrifice the Sprint and start it from the pits in order to try a different configuration.
  • In the Qualifying session, the Williams race driver improved a lot in Q1, where his first lap as a 1:11.282 and his second one a 1:10.651. In Q2, nevertheless, he couldn’t go beyond fifteenth with a 1:10.472 lap.

“It’s been tough to find performance in the car this weekend. We struggle in these types of longer corners and, even though we’ve been playing around a lot with setup, I haven’t managed to find something I’m happy with and I’ve not been comfortable in the car. Tomorrow the pecking order is quite out of sync, so we’ll see what we can do with strategy to try to get into the points. I’m always more optimistic for Sunday, so we’ll keep fighting until the end".
