- Free Practice 1: P7, 1:07.039, 29 laps
- Qualifying: P3, 1:05.066, 26 laps
- Carlos was only 82 thousandths away from pole in the Qualifying session of the Austrian GP. It is the second round out of three in total this season that follows the Sprint weekend format.
- The Ferrari driver made it through Q1 (1:05.660) with two sets of new tyres and then used a single set in Q2 (1:05.575). In Q3 (1:05.066) he set a really fast lap despite two red flags for incidents on track.
- The second red flag was called when Carlos had already left the pits on his last set of Soft tyres and therefore his tyres lost temperature when he had to make his way back to the pits.
- Despite this setback, the Spaniard was still able to put together a flying lap to place himself in the second row of the starting grid of tomorrow’s Sprint.
QUOTES:
"That was extremely close! It was a positive qualifying in general. We managed to build the speed through the session and put in a good lap at the end. The first couple of corners of that final run were very tricky as we had lost temperature on the tyres due to the second red flag. In the end, we missed out on a better result by less than a tenth, so I think we are up for an interesting Sprint race tomorrow and GP on Sunday, as we have a strong pace. We’ll prepare as best as possible and fight for a good result!".
