- Carlos Sainz has done a lot of work with his Williams FW47 from the beginning of the first practice session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, compromised by the medium-high speed corners of this track, which are not ideal for the characteristics of his car.
- The Spanish race driver has completed the run plan in a day marked by the high temperature of the track, which reached up to 50 degrees and proved to be a challenge for the degradation of his tyres.
- Carlos has worked on the Hard and the Soft tyres in the first session, and in the second one he used the Medium and the Hard compounds.

“It was tough out there today, but we expected it. The type of corners here are not the best for our car and right from the start of FP1, I felt how tricky it was. We tried to do some setup changes, and they seemed to go in the right direction, but we still can’t find enough lap time to be further up. We’ll try to take another step for tomorrow, as there is lots to understand and work on but we’ll keep pushing all weekend!".
