Carlos Sainz starts the Italian GP on a positive note on Friday

Friday, 30 August 2024
- Free Practice 1: P4, 1:22.126, 24 laps
- Free Practice 2: P3, 1:20.841, 27 laps

  • Carlos Sainz covered 51 trouble-free laps in Friday practice at the Italian GP as he tried out the three different Pirelli tyres available for the weekend.
  • One of the key points of the day was adjusting the set-up of the car to the last changes done to the asphalt and the kerbs of Monza, which have affected the balance and the tyre degradation.
  • The Spanish Ferrari race driver was today among the fastest on track, just 103 thousandths of a second away from the fastest time in Free Practice 2. Sustaining this speed throughout Qualifying is the goal for tomorrow.

QUOTES:
"It was a very busy and interesting Friday. The Monza track has changed quite a lot, with very different kerbs and a new tarmac. For this reason the challenges and limitations are quite different from previous years and we had to adapt to a new scenario in terms of car setup and understanding tire degradation. There is quite a lot of work to do tonight in order to improve for tomorrow but overall it was a positive start to the weekend".
