- Free Practice 1: P15, 1:17.195, 31 laps
- Free Practice 2: P16, 1:16.874, 32 laps
- Carlos Sainz worked with the three tyre compounds that Pirelli has brought to the Hungarian GP on the first day of practice, where he tested Williams’ recent update with different set-ups.
- The Spaniard covered 26 laps on the Hard tyre in Free Practice 1 and 25 on the Medium one in Free Practice 2, and he also used the Soft option in a run in each session to start working on his short-run performance.
- For Qualifying, the Williams race driver will look for more performance in this track, which looks like a challenge for his car due to the characteristics of its corners.

“We had a few issues today but, ultimately, we don’t seem to have the performance we want this weekend. We did expect this track to be challenging for us and we’ve tried to find areas of performance all day with different set ups. We’ll take all the learnings from today, make some changes overnight and give our best shot tomorrow at the top ten in Qualifying".
