Intense Friday of preparation work for Carlos Sainz at the Mexico GP

Friday, 27 October 2023
-    Free Practice 1: P7, 1:20.479, 23 laps
-    Free Practice 2: P11, 1:19.257, 34 laps

  • Carlos Sainz started the weekend of the Mexico GP just outside of the Top 10, with a run plan that enabled him to run on the three compounds available.
  • The Ferrari race driver also had the chance to try Pirelli’s prototype tyre, which was a C4 compound of the 2024 season.
  • In the first practice session, Carlos’ mileage was compromised by an hydraulic issue that forced him to stay in pits 20 minutes longer than expected.
  • In the second practice, Carlos used the Soft tyre to set the fastest lap of the day (1:19.257) and worked with the Medium compound in race conditions.

QUOTES:
“A busy Friday here in Mexico as working with the prototype tyres always mixes things up. Despite a minor setback in FP1 we managed to cover our main items on the run plan throughout the day. There is still some work to do before so I’m looking forward to digging into our data tonight and jumping back in the car for FP3. The atmosphere today was, as always, amazing! Thanks to all the fans for your support!”
