Carlos Sainz debuts the Williams FW47 in a shakedown at Silverstone

First laps during the official car launch

Silverstone, 14th of February of 2025 – Carlos Sainz was in charge of clocking the very first kilometres on his new car for the 2025 Formula 1 season, the Williams FW47, which the Grove-based team launched today with a special event held in Silverstone.

The FW47 ran a special livery highlighting Atlassian, which this year joins Williams Racing as its new title sponsor. The real colours will be revealed on the evening of the 18th of February in the F1 75 Live event, set to take place in London.

The launch of the FW47 took place in the interior of the Silverstone pit building. Around 17,000 fans from all around the world took part in a contest to attend the occasion as spectators and in the end, there were 47 lucky winners.

Carlos took the stage together with his new teammate Alexander Albon and shared with the fans his expectations for the year ahead. Moments later, he went to the garage to get behind the wheel of the FW47 and complete the first laps in his new car.

NEW HELMET
Carlos’ new Bell helmet was another highlight of the day. The colours of the Spanish flag play a prominent role, but this time they shine over a blue background, something he hadn’t done since his time in McLaren in 2019. Throughout the helmet, there is an arrow theme that represents the progress that both Williams and Carlos pursue. It also includes the 55 number, but this time it is shown on the sides of the helmet. The ‘chill’ logo and Maria de Villota’s star are also included.

Next Tuesday, Carlos will attend the F1 75 Live event in London’s O2 Arena. The ten teams of the grid will meet to celebrate the season launch. Preseason testing will take place in Bahrain on the 26th, the 27th and the 28th of February and the Championship will begin on the 16th of March with the Australian Grand Prix.
