Carlos Sainz set to start fourth at the Emilia Romagna GP following a great comeback in the Sprint

-    Sprint: P4, 21 laps

  • Carlos recovered from tenth to fourth in the Imola Sprint and therefore will take the start of this Sunday’s Emilia Romagna GP from the second row of the grid.
  • The Ferrari driver gained two places after the start and then overtook Alonso, Magnussen, Ricciardo and Norris to certify a crucial comeback drive for his chances.
  • Tyre degradation was one of the talking points of the Sprint, but Carlos saved his tyres despite battling many rivals on track.

“Today was a good day and I’m fairly happy with the comeback. The start went well and then I was able to pick up places one at a time, with strong pace and good tyre management all the way. It was a solid sprint race but, most importantly, we are back in a good position for tomorrow".
