- Carlos gained one place at the start, moving up to third with an overtaking on Lewis Hamilton, although a few laps later both Lewis and Max Verstappen passed him.
- The Spanish Ferrari race driver committed to a two-stop strategy, with two 17-lap stints on the Medium compound and a final 21-lap run on the Hard one.
- In the final stint, thanks to his solid pace, he even put pressure on Lando Norris to fight for a podium finish in Austin, although ultimately he could not catch him.
QUOTES: (before Lewis Hamilton was disqualified):
“I think today’s result was the best we could do. The pace was decent and solid throughout the race and we even closed the gap to the car in P3 during the last laps. Unfortunately the competitors ahead were faster overall and we couldn’t quite reach them, having to settle for P4".
“We are not were we want to be and we knew it was going to be a tough one, but now we need to quickly switch our focus to Mexico and prepare for next week",
