- Race: P8, 70 laps
- Carlos Sainz started very strong on the Soft tyre and made up five places in the first lap, moving up from eleventh to sixth.
- The Spaniard was running sixth up until his second pit-stop, but his teammate pitted one lap earlier than him and gained his place.
- In the last laps of the race, the degradation of the rear tyres in the long runs cost Carlos another position at the finish line, which he crossed in eighth place.
QUOTES:
"We had a good start, making up five places up on the first lap, and a very good first stint with the Soft, managing to stretch the tyre life. Unfortunately, with the Hard compound and longer stints to do, we struggled with rear degradation and didn’t have the pace of the front runners, which is our main weakness at the moment".
"We were expecting more at this track and we need to look into our main areas of improvement".
