- Race: P5, 53 laps
- Carlos climbed back from nineteenth to fifth at a French GP where he even reached the podium at one stage.
- The Ferrari driver started the race on Hard tyres, contrary to the vast majority of the grid. He was already running in tenth by the time the Safety-Car came out following a crash of his teammate Charles Leclerc.
- He switched to Medium tyres for the second stint, embarking himself on a meteoric raid to third place with 13 laps to go.
- Carlos pitted again and left the Pit-Lane in eighth place, but was able to overtake three cars to cross the finish line in fifth place.
QUOTES:
“It was a hard race today but I also enjoyed going through the field, making lots of overtakes. To make places up with the Hards was tricky but as soon as I put the Mediums the pace improved a lot and I managed to make good moves. I gave everything out there today and, even though we were a bit unlucky with the pit stop and the penalty, we manage to fight for the podium".
“Like always, we will review everything these couple of days to see where we can improve and hopefully we can bring home a better result before the summer break. A pity for Charles as he was doing a great race. We’ll keep pushing.".
