Solid pace for Carlos Sainz as he makes a comeback in the Dutch GP

Sunday, 25 August 2024
- Race: P5, 72 laps

  • Carlos Sainz recovered five positions and scored ten valuable points in the Dutch GP, where he displayed a great race pace at the wheel of his Ferrari SF-24.
  • Tenth in the Starting Grid following a penalty on Alexander Albon, the Spaniard passed Lance Stroll at the start and then Fernando Alonso on Lap 8 and Pierre Gasly on Lap 8 to move up to seventh.
  • In the second stint, already on Hard tyres, the Ferrari race driver caught Red Bull’s Sergio Pérez and overtook him on Lap 47 with a late brake through the outside of Turn 1.
  • Carlos moved finally to fifth place when, after catching George Russell on track, the Mercedes driver entered the pits to go for a two-stop strategy.

QUOTES:
“This is a good result as we didn't expect to have such a positive race, specially after a difficult start of the weekend. We executed a very solid race all along with good overtakes on track and a fast pace, specially with the hard tyre once I cleared the cars ahead. Charles also had a very good Sunday and I'm happy for the team. We'll definitely arrive to Monza with a high spirit and I can’t wait to race in front of our tifosi!".
