Carlos Sainz saves one point in the British GP

Sunday, 9 July 2023
-    Race: P10, 52 laps

  • Carlos Sainz finished tenth in the British GP, a difficult race with two very different parts before and after the appearance of the Safety-Car on Lap 34.
  • Sixth after the start, the Ferrari race driver extended the Medium tyre until Lap 26 and then he switched to the Hard compound to face the rest of the race.
  • The Safety-Car, though, cost him two positions because other cars were still to visit the Pit-Lane for their first pit-stop.
  • The Spaniard was seventh on the restart, but some rivals had pitted under the Safety-Car for Soft tyres and the tyre-wear and compound differences made the difference.

QUOTES:
“It was a difficult race. We were not as quick as expected and as a consequence we were unable to fight with the cars ahead. I managed to extend the stint with the Medium tyres and with the Hard I was fast. Unfortunately, the Safety Car came out at the worst possible time".

"I did my best at the restart, but battling on old Hards against other cars with fresher and softer tyres is very difficult here. I feel that better results have been slipping away from us lately, but we’ll keep working and pushing relentlessly, starting from the next race in Hungary".
