Saturday, 30 July 2022
-    Free Practice 3: P7, 1:43.589, 15 laps
-    Qualifying: P2, 1:17.421, 22 laps

  • Carlos was just 44 thousandths of a second short from pole position in the Hungarian GP.
  • The weather forecast was uncertain following a wet morning practice session, but Qualified remained dry throughout.
  • The Ferrari driver made it through Q1 (1:18.434) and Q2 (1:17.946) with a single new set of tyres in each session, which meant that he had two new sets available for the final round.
  • The Spaniard was on pole following his first attempt in Q3. On his final lap he improved it further (1:17.421), but on the eleventh-hour Russell set the fastest lap.
  • Carlos will start the race from the first row of the grid in a Grand Prix where overtaking is notoriously difficult.

QUOTES:
“I’m not very happy with the final result as I feel I could have done a better lap on the final attempt. However, I prefer to focus on the positives. We are in a good position for tomorrow, I’ve been comfortable in the car all weekend and we keep making steps in the right direction".

"I’m confident we can carry the good pace of Friday into the race, so we’ll definitely go for it. Congrats to George on his first pole. He did a very good lap today and I look forward to the battle tomorrow".
