- Free Practice 1: P8, 1:11.458, 33 laps
- Free Practice 2: P16, 1:11.682, 30 laps
- Carlos Sainz finished sixteenth in the second practice session, which was not representative of his true performance given that a red flag cut short his fastest lap.
- Beyond running on the Soft tyre, the Williams race driver also worked extensively with the Hard compound. He covered 25 laps on it in Free Practice 2.
- In Free Practice 1, the Spaniard set the eighth fastest time of the session with the Soft rubber. He also tested the Medium option, clocking 25 laps with it in order to assess its performance in long-run conditions.
