• Carlos completed 34 laps in the second Free Practice session in Austin. Conditions were warmer than in the morning opener.
• The McLaren driver set the eighth fastest time overall (1:34.667) in his first flying lap on soft tyres of the weekend.
• The Spaniard started the session on hard tyres, completing 14 laps across three stints. He then moved to softs, first to set his fastest lap and then to clock a ten-lap run. He finished with another six laps on the hard compound.

"Today it was a different Friday than usual, because we had available the compounds of next season. Apart from that, we struggled a bit to find the right balance of the car, but I think we finished the day with a good baseline. We know that it will be a challenging weekend and that there will be a tough fight to qualify P7 and lead the midfield. We will make sure that we are well prepared for the race".
