- Formula 1 is set to introduce in Baku a new race weekend format in Baku with two separate Qualifying sessions, one for Saturday's Sprint and another one that will take place on Friday and that will count towards Sunday's Grand Prix.
- Even though he prefers the traditional Grand Prix format, the Spanish Ferrari race driver aknowledges that innovations like this weekend's help bring emotion to an ever-growing calendar.
- The race of Azerbaijan takes place after a four-week break, an unusual circumstance for the month of April.
